When you take a closer look at their reviews, you will see a major warning theme in their negative reviews. Easy Road Moving and Storage is being accused of being a hostage moving company. A hostage moving company is when the moving company quotes you one price and on the day of the move, they increase the price on you. They typically state that they underestimated the size of the move, or that there were stairs that were never disclosed at the time of entering into the contract. When you are unable to pay the increased amount, they take your belongings to a storage facility and charge you a storage fee every day they have your items. This is a scam and is illegal. The owner can be sentenced to jail for this.
Since this is review fraud, I will focus on Easy Road Moving and Storage’s reviews. Yelp has slapped them with a consumer alert warning for suspicious review activity. Yelp is giving Easy Road Moving and Storage a 1.5 rating with 28 reviews. Yelp has filtered out 106 reviews and removed 39 reviews for TOS violations. I did notice a few patterns of abuse in the Yelp reviews they were filtered and removed. Easy Road Moving and Storage is based in Florida, yet they had a lot of reviews from people in New York and Canada. Several of the reviewers have no photos, friends, or any other reviews. It looks like the accounts were merely created to post the one Yelp review.
The BBB gives Easy Road Moving and Storage a B rating. I see that Easy Road Moving and Storage has had 16 complaints in the past 3 years with 14 being filed in the past 12 months. They also have a 3.67 rating with 6 reviews. One of the 5-star reviews should be removed as it bashes Yelp for removing the positive reviews while praising Easy Road Moving and Storage. I have flagged it with one of my contacts at the BBB.
I am seeing enough warning signs to recommend that people not use Easy Road Moving and Storage and find another moving company.
