How to flag a Google review for Removal
If you receive a negative Google My Business, these are the step to take:
1. Log into your Google My Business account.
2. Click on the reviews tab in your GMB dashboard. Google defaults to showing all reviews.
3. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the review you are looking to remove and select “Flag as inappropriate”
4. Fill out the ‘Report a Policy Violation’ form and submit.
Google will email you after they investigate the review to let you know if the review will be removed or left up.
What if Google refuses to remove the negative review?
Google will only look at the language in the review to see if any of the words violate any known Terms of Service policies. If the review contains vulgarity or racists insults, the review will be removed. If Google does not find anything offensive with the review, it will not be taken down.
The next step is to head over to the Google My Business community forum to ask for help. The GMB forum is a peer to peer community forum staffed by volunteers and not Google employees. I Jason Brown am a GMB Gold Product Expert. The Gold and Platinum Product Experts are able to escalate issues directly to Google support. We typically are able to get better results than when users go directly to support. It can take us anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, sometimes months to get a response from Google.
If you have a review issue, Review Fraud can look at your listing to see if there is anyway to remove the review or advise you on the next steps.
