I recieved a tip that the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce is posting reviews for their members’ Google Business Profiles (GBPS). If they are doing this, this act violates Google’s TOS.

Google doesn’t allow reviews that are not based on a real experience or do not accurately represent the location or product in question. Since these reviews in question were posted because they are members of the chamber of commerce, they violated the TOS.

The review profile in question is named GTRCC Admin. This profile has left reviews for 411 GBPs. A few reviews recieved a reply admitting that they are members of the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce. Google is only crediting GTRCC Admin with 211 reviews. 200 reviews have been removed and filtered out by Google.

Several of these reviews have been edited since they were originally posted.

Regardless of who posted these reviews, these reviews violate Google’s TOS and the updated FTC rules governing online reviews. Google needs to remove these reviews.
