Since December 2023, I have been battling Pestway’s lead-generation map spam in and around Detroit, Michigan. I have identified 166 Google Business Profiles (GBPs) linked to Pestway. Google has suspended and removed 139 GBPs. 18 GBPs have been marked as permanently closed. Somebody has been reopening a few of them this past week. There are nine GBPs live and showing on Google. Several of the GBPs have received fake 5-star reviews.
Here is one of the GBPs, Infestation Innovators LLC. It has been marked as closed and has been reopened once.
It only has one Google review.
The Google account has been deleted, and the review will eventually be removed.
Pestway is operated by Kyle Scappaticci, Kevin Scappaticci, and Emily Scappaticci. They were the subject of an investigation by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office for potential violations of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act. Pestway agreed to rebrand its websites to clearly indicate its association with Pestway. A majority of the websites have been removed from the GBPs or have since expired. I don’t know if the AG’s office knew about the suspicious reviews. The suspicious reviews have since restarted.
